Challenge

Our client has been highly involved in surveillance and security systems-related work for several years. The biggest problem they highlighted was that majority of crowd logistics at large events was carried out manually by estimating the size of a group with the naked eye. This turns into a huge challenge, as events’ organisers have a legal responsibility for crowd congestion and the means for controlling it.

Solution

We used Raspberry Pi to create a light and easy to manage hardware system. We enabled event managers to upload a picture of their venue, and drag & drop cameras on the map to synchronize them with thermal cameras installed throughout the venue.

Event Crowds have partnered with some of the biggest names in the event industry, in the UK and abroad, including Glastonbury Festival, Download Festival, multiple events in Hyde Park, and at the Olympic Village Park.

Impact

Event Crowds were truly delighted with the result. The technology we developed at Leto enabled event managers to save a lot of money by being in full control of their event, avoiding over-sophisticated and complicated systems.
